Coming up for air

Coming Up for Air is a family respite weekend held at Rocky Mountain Village in Empire, CO. Easterseals Colorado and the Colorado Respite Coalition have offered the weekend to families with children and teens with special needs and to kinship care, adoptive and foster families. During the weekend, children and teens are matched with counselors and participate in fun, recreational activities, while parents and guardians attend training sessions. Past training sessions have included stress management, self-care, accessing community resources and financial planning. The focus of the event is to connect families facing similar caregiving challenges and provide resources to support them, while also providing respite away from everyday life.
