House Bills:

Advocacy

Several years ago, a bipartisan group of federal legislators joined together with the local, state and national family caregiving advocacy communities to draft a piece of legislation focused on respite services for family caregivers.  That resulted in the Lifespan Respite Care Act (PL 109-442), which provides grants to states to develop local respite care programs for caregivers desperate for a few hours break.

We wish to create the same impact in Colorado and shape policies and proposals focused on bringing relief to the families. Colorado Respite Coalition is currently working with ARCH National Respite Coalition to promote increased funding through this act, so that ultimately all states, including Colorado, will have access to funds to keep programs such as the Colorado Respite Care Project operational.

Let’s work together to break down barriers to respite care and increase access and affordability to this safety net service.
